Speaking of the EMS Grants.......they are being paid quarterly, this year, as the money comes in.  If this creates a hardship for your department, contact Allen Bostwick or Rich Rucker to have your name moved up to the next pay period.  Otherwise, you will receive part of your grant and quarterly payments will follow.

There have been some questions on how to grandfather firefighters for future certification requirements / ie: CEU's.  Here is how to complete the procedure:

1.  Go to ODPS EMS website:  www.ems.ohio.gov/ems.asp

2.  Verify your certification

3.  Click on Certification/testing

4.  Under Certification heading - click on certification verification.  Enter your SSN to see what certifications you have.  If you are not showing a certification for firefighting you may need to grandfather.

5.  Go back to EMS home page and click on "forms"

6.  Under "Firefighter", select "Application for grandfathered firefighter"

7.  Print out this form and verify what you estimate your date of original certification(prior to July 2, 1979)

8.  Complete the form

9.  Have you Chief send a letter, on department letterhead, with this application verifying that you are in good standing with your department and that you were certified prior to 7-2-79.

10. Mail the packet and wait approximately 2 weeks for your card.
