PRE-CONVENTION

The 2007 NOVFA Preconvention meeting was held at the Liberty-Washington Township Fire Station in Liberty Center on April 21st.  Following  the committee meetings, President Tom Pack opened the general business meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance.  Reports were given by Rossford FD (convention), Springfield Twp. FD (muster), and Wauseon FD (golf).  Bowling was not represented.

Reports were given by Charity Fund Treasurer Bill Elwood and Charity Fund Secretary Ed Bohn.  It was noted that thirty-two NOVFA members do not belong to the Charity Fund.

During NOVFA Treasurer Randy McKnight's report, discussion was held on a possible dues increase for Association members.  The most recent dues increase was in 1985.

If any department wants to request Preconvention or the Muster, and be on the written ballot, you must notify Secretary Ray Walendzak or Asst. Secretary Brian Baker by June 1, 2007.  Nominations for all events and offices will be open at the Convention Meeting, but  will not be on the printed ballot after June 1st.

There will be a proposal on the ballot to buy a brick on the "Walk of Fame" at the National Firefighters Memorial.  The $500.00 donation is to come from the Charity Fund.

Also on the ballot will be the following:                                                                                                          Article II,  Membership,  Section 3.  "Associate members shall consist of individuals representing manufacturers and dealers in fire equipment supplies; individuals representing firms and corporations interested in the protection of life and property against loss by fire or accidents; officers and members of fire departments and firefighters associations outside this Association.  These persons shall be eligible to Associate Membership upon payment of the sum of $40.00 annual dues."                                                                                                                

and:     BY-LAWS   Section 2.  "Fire companies and fire departments coming under the provisions of Section 1 of these By-Laws, shall be considered in good standing upon the payment of the annual dues for membership in this Association with the payment of forty ($40.00) dollars with said application.

If you are planning to attend the dinner, please register by April 15th.  Cost is $12.00 per person.  You may pay in advance to: LCFD, T-315 CR 8, Liberty Center, Ohio  43532, or call 419.533.6567 or 419.533.4685 and pay at the door.  The menu includes Smoked Pork Chops, Herbed Chicken Breast, Red Skin Potatoes, Green Beans, Macaroni & Cheese, Garden Salad, Dinner Rolls, Cheesecake and Beverage.

If you are interested in running for an office or hosting a 2008 event, please have your letter of request at the preconvention meeting to be placed on the 2007 Convention ballot.  A by-law ammendment will be presented at the meeting for a proposed dues change to be voted on at the Convention conference.  This is YOUR Association so please take part in this important business.....ATTEND THE PRECONVENTION MEETING !!!!!!!!!
